VIRGIN by LORDE

Lorde's new album, Virgin, does encapsulate some of her old sound while incorporating some new sounds as well. I can really hear the Charli XCX influence, or rather, club influence, which has had a big boom in recent time. To be honest I'm not sure how to feel about club music revival. I think it is growing on me, actually. Fun is something much needed in times like these. Anyways I do like how Lorde explores a lot about gender on this album. A lot of lyrics touch on the experience of growing up feminine while also sometimes feeling curious towards a masculine side - something I relate to. Awesome album cover, I like how you can see her IUD and I've heard the vinyl packaging for this one is pretty damn awesome. I will say, I wish Lorde did more with her previous sound, the one prevalent on Pure Heroine, but I'm not one to nag when an artist experiments creatively.

BEST TRACK : Man of the year, GRWM

OVERALL RATING : 7/10
